Rotary Essay Winner

At the February 3 monthly luncheon of Darlington Rotary Club, Dennis Jenkins (left) presented a $50 prize check to Darlington High School junior Ashley Ray for winning the club’s annual essay contest. Entrants submitted 750-word essays on the meaning of Rotary’s Four Way Test and explained how that credo – espousing the virtues of truth, fairness, friendship, and service – can help them in their lives.

“I wrote about how the Four Way Test can help you think before you act so you don’t make any irrational decisions,” said Ashley, who now advances to district-level competition where a $500 prize is at stake. Photo by Samantha Lyles
