Rogers announces candidacy for Darlington County Auditor

Margaret Ross-Rogers of Darlington has announced her candidacy for Darlington County Auditor, currently held by Rosa Hudson who is retiring.

“It has been an honor and a joy to work with Mrs. Hudson for all these years,” said Rogers.

Rogers has held the position as the county’s deputy auditor for 16 years, and has worked in the county auditor’s office for 30 years.

Rogers is a graduated of Mayo High School in 1968, and a graduated from Morris College in Sumter in 1973 with a BS degree in Education.

She is the daughter of the late Charlie Ross, Jr. and Annie Boston Ross. She has a sister, Almeta Ross-Lewis of High Point, N.C., and a brother, Charles James Ross of Darlington. She is the mother of Adrienne (Jermain) Jackson, and the grandmother of three beautiful children: Makayla, Aaron, and Jaclyn, all of Darlington. Rogers is a longtime and faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eugene Thomas, Jr. Her church activities include: Junior Missionary President, Senior and Missionary Usher. She is an active member of the Eastern Star Bowers Chapter 295.

As a longtime employee for Darlington County, she is looking forward to becoming auditor. She believes she is experienced professionally and politically to take on this position.

“I’m new to politics, and actually don’t think this job should be political,” Rogers said. “Our office services the people of Darlington County, irrespective of their political party or ethnicity.”

Rogers continues, “I’ve spent my entire career in the auditor’s office, and customer service is my number-one priority. I believe my work ethic and stability qualifies me to hold this office.”
