Patricia Coxe Ware

RICHMOND, VA. — Patricia Coxe Ware, 85, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Mrs. Ware was born in Darlington, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Chatterton Coxe, Jr. and Emily Wood Badham Coxe. She was predeceased by her husband, the Reverend Marshall Taylor Ware.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ware Gibson and Dr. F. Brian Gibson; sons and daughters-in law, Marshall Taylor Ware, Jr. and Jill Brammer Ware, and John McAlister Ware and Lisa Mincey Ware; and five grandchildren, Taylor Gibson (Rebecca Laube Gibson), Andrew Gibson (Effe Ghartey-Tagoe Gibson), Claire Gibson, Mac Ware and Riley Ware. Her sister, Victoria Coxe Commander; and brother, Richard Badham Coxe also survive her. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Chatterton Coxe III; and her sister, Emily Wood Coxe Winburn.
Mrs. Ware graduated from St. Catherine’s School and received her Bachelor of Arts from Sweet Briar College. She was a member of St. James’s Episcopal Church, Richmond. With her lifelong interest in cooking, Mrs. Ware opened Gourmet Delights, a lunch service, prepared foods, and catering business, in Cary Court with Mrs. Betsy Walmsley in 1981 and maintained the business until 1993. Mrs. Ware valued family and friends and remained active in a wide variety of organizations and institutions in the Richmond area.
A graveside service will be held in Hollywood Cemetery on Saturday, January 7, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at St. James’s Episcopal Church in the Michaux House, Valentine Hall.
