Officers use Taser on man walking in traffic
Darlington County sheriff’s deputies and Hartsville police officers used a Taser on a man April 6 who allegedly was walking in traffic and taking off his clothes, authorities said.
Hartsville Police said the incident took place at Carolina Avenue and Fourth Street. They said the man assaulted deputies trying to restrain him, and police “had to try to restrain him and a Taser was deployed.”
“This could have easily escalated beyond a Taser deployment; however, thanks to the quick response of a number of HPD officers and DCSO deputies, they were able to get him restrained and to the hospital for evaluation,” Hartsville police said. It was not clear if the man had been charged.
