Nettie Jane Odom Howle

Nettie Jane Odom Howle, age 86, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023. The family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening, January 25, at Belk Funeral Home. Her funeral service took place at Central Baptist Church on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 11:00am, with burial following in Swift Creek Cemetery.
Born in Darlington on January 21, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Darrell Lawrence Odom and Virginia Morrell Odom Turner. Mrs. Howle was a devoted wife and mother, who worked as an accountant for Clanton’s Auto Auction (now Manheim) and Central Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook, always willing to feed you when you visited! Not only was she the bookkeeper at Central for many years, she was an active member until her health declined, and loved her church very much.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Marilyn Howle, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kitty and Alan Atkinson, Debbie and Lenny Watford and Donna and Mike Moody; all of Darlington, grandchildren: Mandy (James) Dargan, Matthew (Brittany) Howle, Mason (Lacey)Howle, Natalie Wing, Jordan (Randy Johnson) Atkinson, Hannah Watford, Hayden (Logan) Watford, Catherine (Brandon) Kemmerlin; great grandchildren: Kate and Annie Rose Dargan, Bentley, Gracelyn and Cayson Howle , Skylar Johnson, Sydney Johnson, Lincoln and Annakate Kemmerlin. Also surviving are her siblings, James and Annette Odom of Lamar and Carolyn and Bubba Jessen of Walterboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd “Dick” Howle, Jr. , brothers, Cephas “Pete” Odom, Gene Odom and her half-brother, Tom Odom.
The family expresses their gratitude to Stephanie Teal and the staff of Morrell Nursing Center for their love and care.
