Mercy Medical merges with Darlington Free Medical Clinic

The Hartsville location of Mercy Medical, 214 N. Fifth Street, Hartsville.

The Darlington Free Medical Clinic (now Mercy Medical Darlington location), 203 Grove Street, Darlington.

The Mercy Medicine Free Clinic and Free Medical Clinic of Darlington County have merged to become Mercy Medical Free Clinics. This enhances patient access across Florence, Darlington, and Hartsville locations.  There will be a reduction of overhead costs by 33% due to the elimination of duplicate services. This efficiency will contribute to the overall impact of Mercy Medical Free Clinics. The board members and volunteers will have more opportunities to assist in other capacities, and less administrative costs which allows for more resources for patient care. The merger also expands promotional reach, yielding increased marketing results which helps spread the information to patients that are eligible.

Mercy Medical now provides free quality medical and dental care inclusive of medications support for qualifying residents of Florence, Marion, Williamsburg and Darlington counties. It is not a walk-in clinic or an urgent care center, but sees all enrolled patients by appointment.

To qualify for care, one must have an annual income that is below 250% of federal poverty threshold, not have any other health or dental insurance including Medicare or Medicaid, must be between 18-64, and reside in the above-mentioned counties.

Mercy Medical is open 5 days a week. For more information, please call 843-398-0060 for Darlington/Hartsville or 843-667-9947 for the Florence site.

There are 37 free clinics operating in South Carolina.  Mercy Medical Free Clinics is only one of a few to offer dental services.

The Christ based clinic is supported by grants, foundations, and generous donations from private donors and businesses.
