Mechanicsville Baptist Church to host first-ever “Taste of Mechanicsville” during Fundraiser

(Annual event adds food, auctions, classic cars, and live music to benefit local and global ministries.)
Mechanicsville Baptist Church is giving its annual fundraiser a new flavor this year. On Friday, October 16, from 5 to 8 p.m., the church will host “The Taste of Mechanicsville,” its first-ever taste event, at its campus at 2364 Cashua Ferry Road.
All proceeds will support the church and its missions and ministries. Organizers say the evening will combine food, fellowship, auctions, and entertainment, and they are inviting the whole community.
The centerpiece of the evening is the taste event itself. Church leaders are asking area businesses, clubs, organizations, and restaurants to set up tables and share a “taste” of a signature dish, dessert, drink, or product. The church hopes to offer guests a wide variety of food to sample throughout the night.
The church’s well-known barbecue will be served as part of the Taste Event, and guests can also buy BBQ by the pound to take home.
Beyond the food, the evening is packed with activity. A silent auction will run from 5 to 8 p.m. A live auction begins at 7 p.m. and will feature the church’s famous homemade cake auction, a perennial favorite. Items donated to either auction are tax-deductible, and the church’s 501(c)(3) information (57-0791359) is printed on its official correspondence.
Throughout the evening, a General Store and Bake Sale will run alongside the other events. A cruise-in with classic cars and live music will round out the night.
The church is also offering sponsorship opportunities for businesses and individuals who want to become “Partners in Kingdom Work.” Four levels are available:
Bronze sponsors give $100, Silver sponsors give $250, Gold sponsors give $500, and Platinum sponsors give $1,000. Silver-level sponsors and above receive verbal and digital recognition during the event, along with a social media shout-out. Sponsors at every level will be named on the church’s website and in its newsletter.
Mechanicsville Baptist describes itself as an “Acts 1:8 church,” a reference to the biblical call to be witnesses at home and to the ends of the earth. Organizers say the money raised will help many people, not only in the local community but across the state, the nation, and the world.
