Mason selected as 2026 Deputy of the Year

Darlington County Sheriff Michael August nominated Deputy Devin Mason, for the South Carolina Sheriffs’ Association Deputy of the Year Award. Following the nomination process, the award was voted on by the 46 Sheriffs of the South Carolina Sheriffs’ Association, and we are proud to share that Deputy Mason was selected as the 2026 South Carolina Deputy of the Year.

Deputy Mason’s family attended the South Carolina Sheriffs’ Association Banquet on Wednesday, July 15, where they accepted this prestigious award on his behalf. This recognition reflects Deputy Mason’s exceptional dedication, unwavering professionalism, and selfless commitment to serving the citizens of Darlington County.

Sheriff August stated, “Although he is no longer with us, his legacy of courage, honor, and service continues to inspire everyone at the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and throughout the law enforcement community.”
