Locals earn Citadel Gold Stars

Several students from the Pee Dee region have been recognized for their academic excellence at The Citadel, earning the distinguished Gold Star award for the fall 2024 semester. This honor is awarded to cadets and students who achieve a grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Those who receive Gold Star recognition are also placed on The Citadel’s Dean’s List.
Among the honorees are:
Jacob Burgess of Hartsville.
Richard Conner of Hartsville.
Patrick Flaherty of McBee.
James Gainey of Hartsville.
Chandler Greene of Hartsville.
Anthony Hopkins of Darlington.
Ashton Phillips of Hartsville.
David Ropp of Hartsville.
Located in Charleston, South Carolina, The Citadel is renowned for its military college education, emphasizing leadership and academic excellence. While cadets are not required to serve in the military, approximately one-third of each graduating class earns commissions as officers in the U.S. Armed Forces. Since its founding in 1842, The Citadel has prepared leaders who serve their communities, states, and the nation.
In addition to the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, The Citadel Graduate College provides numerous graduate and undergraduate programs available in the evening or online, catering to a diverse student body.
