Legal Pardon Clinic to be held
Legacy of Women, Inc., Path2Redemption, Inc., and The House of Refuge Church are hosting a Pardon Clinic on Saturday, January 18, 2025, to assist South Carolina justice-involved individuals in regaining opportunities for growth and rebuilding their lives.
The free clinic will be hosted at The House of Refuge Church – Fellowship Hall, 408 Coker Ave, Hartsville, from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Attendees will receive guidance on the pardon process, personalized support with pardon applications and access to resources to overcome barriers related to past convictions.
This initiative seeks to empower participants to navigate the legal system, restore their rights, and reclaim their futures. Pardon application fees will be covered for the first ten (10) qualified applicants.
Lester Young, Executive Director of Path2Redemption, Inc., and a renowned author, speaker, and re-entry consultant, highlighted the vital role pardons play in breaking barriers: “After applying for and receiving my pardon, most of my rights as a citizen were restored. I can now vote, access more opportunities, apply for jobs, and pursue federal and state contracts. It was a pivotal step that opened doors and removed obstacles in my life.”
“This opportunity will continue to empower women and their families to ‘reset’ their lives after experiencing justice involvement,” said Toyinda L. Smith, Founder and CEO of Legacy of Women, Inc. “Programs like this have the transformative power to change lives. Legacy of Women, Inc. is uniquely positioned to make a lasting impact in this region by providing job training, professional coaching, financial literacy education, and family sustainability support, including pardon assistance.”
