The Hartsville City Council has approved the acceptance of a land donation to developed into a new public park, following a Public Hearing and Special Meeting held on Tuesday, December 17th.

The property, approximately 4 acres located near the intersection of Washington Street and Fourth Street, was offered by Pedigreed Properties for public recreational use. As part of the donation agreement, the company’s name will be incorporated into the park’s official designation.

Council members voted to approve Ordinance 4485, which authorizes the acceptance and conveyance of the property. The agreement was contingent upon the City Manager receiving and approving a finalized plat of the property by December 31, 2024.

The donation represents a significant addition to Hartsville’s park system. Plans for the site should be announced in the coming months, following the completion of the property transfer.
