Gerald David “Jerry” Boykin
Gerald David “Jerry” Boykin, 74, of Waycross, GA, died Thursday afternoon (February23, 2023) at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness. Mr. Boykin was born in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Whitaker Buie Boykin and Janet Watford Boykin Weatherford and made Waycross his home for many years. After high school, he went to work for the railroad where he worked for one year before joining the United States Navy where he served his country faithfully during Vietnam. After his military service he went back to work for the railroad and retired from CSX after 42 years. He enjoyed reading, working in his yard and loved fishing. He especially enjoyed talking and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Smith. Mr. Boykin is survived by his wife Lita Boykin of Waycross; five children, Greg Boykin wife Tammy of Union, MO, David Boykin of Darlington, SC, Melissa Fuller husband Dwayne of Tampa, FL, Jordan Guy of Waycross, Blake Music husband Brandon of Waycross; six grandchildren, Asher Boykin, Kamaile Boykin, Justin Gainey, Madison Fuller, Rachel Fuller, Gavin Music; a brother, Larry Boykin wife Cheryl of Darlington, SC; a sister, Laura Morris husband Tommy of Darlington, SC; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
