Genesis expands rural healthcare service

Genesis Healthcare, Inc. (GHC) rolled its mobile medical unit out to the Lydia community on Thursday morning, Sept. 17, hosting its inaugural Lydia Clinical Bus Event at Luke Arthur Ballfield, 5213 Indian Branch Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The mobile clinic offered sick visits, new patient visits and follow-up appointments to rural residents who might otherwise face long drives to reach a doctor’s office.
GHC operates mobile medical units throughout South Carolina with a mission to close gaps in healthcare access. The units are designed to reach remote areas, serve underserved populations — including low-income residents and rural farm workers — and provide support at community festivals, health fairs and public gatherings. Services available on board include basic health checkups and screenings, wellness and disease-prevention education, and on-site assistance during local events.
Howard Nettles, GHC’s Director of Community Outreach and Engagement, and Kaylen Snapp, Specialty Pharmacy Marketing Manager, joined other GHC staff members on site to serve the Lydia community. Darlington County Sheriff Michael August and Sgt. Jacob Heatherly also stopped by to show their support.
The event marked a new step in GHC’s ongoing effort to bring quality healthcare directly to the doorsteps of South Carolina’s rural communities.
