Gattisons give to Darlington’s Warming/Cooling Centers

The City of Darlington recently received an impressive donation to support its warming-cooling centers, thanks to the generosity of local family Jack and Gwendolyn Gattison.
The Gattisons, longtime Darlingtonians, made the donation on behalf of WoodmenLife, a not-for-profit life insurance organization that has served communities since its founding in 1890.
City officials were on hand to help receive the donation and thank the family for their community spirit. Interim City Manager Ronnie Ward joined Councilwomen Angela McRavin and Shelia Baccus, along with members of the Darlington Area Recreation Department, to help unload the donated items and personally accept the gift.
The warming-cooling centers serve as a vital resource for Darlington residents, providing a safe place to escape extreme temperatures during both summer heat waves and winter cold snaps.
City leaders say donations like this one from the Gattison family and WoodmenLife help ensure the centers remain well-equipped and ready to serve the community year-round.
