Funeral services held for woman slain during encounter with deputies

From Staff Reports

Funeral services were held last week for the Hartsville-area woman killed in what was called an exchange of gunfire with Darlington County sheriff’s deputies, but little new information has been released on the case.

Services for Kimberly Toni Norris, 34, were scheduled to be held Oct. 25 at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home.

The State Law Enforcement Division continues to investigate the Oct. 20 incident, in which Norris was shot during an encounter with sheriff’s deputies. Officials said that she was armed and that shots were exchanged between her and deputies.

Norris’ obituary from Norton Funeral Home says she was born in Florence, the daughter of Gerald Norris and the late Katherine Spencer.

Surviving are her father of Hartsville; brothers, Brantley Norris of Lydia and Bradley Norris of Darlington; sisters, Jessica Johnson of Hartsville and Jennifer Jaite of Florence; nieces and nephews, Charley Grace Norris, Brantley Elise Norris, Coley Parker Norris and Holden Elizabeth Norris.
