Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) has partnered with former student, Hayes Goodson for the 2016 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and Pee Dee Coastal Super Truck Series seasons.

Hayes is a third generation driver from Darlington, South Carolina, and he’ll pilot the FDTC sponsored No. 16 PASS Super Late Model and the No. 13 Super Truck in 2016. The team will compete at Dillon Motor Speedway, Myrtle Beach Speedway and a few select events throughout the Carolinas.

“I’m really honored to have Florence-Darlington Technical College jump back on board with our team this year,” Goodson said. “The college is a great partner. I’m really looking forward to the 2016 season. We’re going to unload, win races and bring home the Super Truck championship.”

Last year, FDTC sponsored former NASCAR XFINITY Series driver, Hal Goodson, who won four races, along with the 2015 Pee Dee Coastal Super Truck Series championship. At the conclusion of the 2015 season, Hal made the decision to step away from the driver’s seat and hand the steering wheel over to his 21-year old son, Hayes.

“I’ve been racing for a long time,” said Hal, a two-time NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series champion. “I’ve won many races and championships, but it’s now time for Hayes to carry on the winning tradition. Hayes has come up through the ranks, winning in nearly everything that he has driven, so he’ll do just fine.”

Although Goodson will be taking over the reins of his father’s equipment, he’s certainly no stranger to success. In fact, Hayes won the first ever Super Truck race that he competed in, outrunning his father for the victory. Hayes is a two-time Super Truck winner.

“I feel that this season is really going to be a benchmark year for me,” Goodson said. “I’ve competed in the Super Trucks before, and I’ve also won races, but this season, we’re putting all of the team’s efforts into one truck. With my dad being able to concentrate on the mechanical and coaching aspects, I think we’ll be a threat to win every single weekend.”

Hayes is currently a junior at Francis Marion University, majoring in engineering. Last year, the Darlingtonian took a math course at FDTC over the summer, and this year, he’s looking at potentially taking more courses during the Summer 2016 Semester.

“Florence-Darlington Technical College has really helped me take my education to new heights,” Goodson said. “Their summer program helped me stay on track with my studies at FMU. The course that I took easily transferred and was extremely affordable. I’m thinking about taking even more courses at the college later on this year during their Summer Semester.

Hayes Goodson’s first race of the 2016 season will be on Saturday, March 5 at Dillon Motor Speedway as he competes in the Pro All Stars Series South Carolina Clash 150. Racing is set to begin at 5 p.m. this upcoming Saturday. As for the Super Truck, Hayes’ first race in the Pee Dee Coastal Super Truck Series is set to take place at Myrtle Beach Speedway on Saturday, April 2, 2016.
