Deputies complete training at Criminal Justice Academy

Darlington County sheriff’s deputies George Kelley and Jimmy Walker have graduated from the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy, having successfully completed 12 weeks of training.

Kelley is a native of Connecticut.

He served four years in Marine Corps, over a year with the Maine Department of Corrections and a year with the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.

Walker is a native of Darlington, having worked in the private sector for several years as a welder.

Sheriff Tony Chavis was invited by Criminal Justice Academy Director Jackie Swindler to speak to the graduating class.

Sheriff Chavis reminded the graduates, “You work for your sheriff or chief, but you serve the people, and you should never forget it.”
