Darlington man faces multiple grand larceny charges

Sheriff Tony Chavis has announced the arrest of a Darlington man following a multi-jurisdictional investigation into the theft of agricultural GPS guidance systems equipment from multiple farms throughout Darlington County and one in Lee County.
Investigators have arrested Logan David Smith, 31, of Darlington.
Smith is charged with four counts of grand larceny, value of $10,000 or more, and two counts of petit larceny, value of $2,000 or less. Smith was also charged by Lee County sheriff’s investigators with one count of grand larceny, value of $10,000 or more.
Investigators say Smith admitted to the thefts and several of the stolen GPS guidance systems were located at his residence.
Smith remained in custody at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center. He was being held on a $24,000 bond.
