Darlington man accused of manslaughter in Florence

A Darlington man has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of a man who was shot in December while riding in a car in Florence County, officials say. Daveion Jamir Jackson, 21, whose address is listed as 2550 Holly Circle, Darlington, in Florence County jail records, was arrested March 11. The Florence County Sheriff’s Office reports that on or about Dec. 23 of last year, Jackson was riding in a vehicle on West Palmetto Street. He is accused of pointing a “small semi-automatic rifle” at another passenger in the vehicle when the gun discharged. The other passenger was killed.
