The Darlington Falcons Football team hosted their spring game at the Falcon’s Nest on May 18th, previewing an exciting team led by new head coach, Jamie Johnson. With a new head coach and a ton of new players joining the team, the hype for the Darlington Falcons is at an all time high. “The energy is what’s exciting, I think there’s a lot of positive energy around where we’re going,” Coach Johnson said, “as long as we continue to get better, I think we’re going to shock a lot of people”.

Last Season, the Falcons, led by head coach Raymond Jennings, finished with a record of 0-9. With the hiring of Coach Jamie Johnson, a new culture is being ushered in the Falcon’s locker room. “One of the things we have bought into is discipline, we want discipline this year,” Linebacker Jershad Kennedy said,”We give more effort, [Coach Johnson] puts more effort in us. He counts on us, and he pushes us to our limits to make sure we do what we’re supposed to do.”

Supporting the Falcons is a community, hungry for a winning season. Donations were accepted as an entry fee to watch the spring game and many items such as water and healthy snacks were donated to the team. Coach Johnson weighed in on how the community has supported the team saying, “They have definitely been supportive. We haven’t had cleats, they’ve had to buy their own cleats, and [the community] pitched in to help pay for team cleats and new bags to get better with the drills. I can see they are excited and hopefully we can get some wins and even more people can jump on the bandwagon.”

The Darlington Falcons will host their first football game of the 2023-24 season on August 18th against the Central Eagles at the Falcon’s Nest at 7:30 pm.
