Darlington County School District schools closed by order of Gov. Nikki Haley due to hurricane

Darlington County School District schools will be closed by order of Gov. Nikki Haley for the remainder of this week, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 5, due to the forecast for Hurricane Matthew. {Editor’s note: To keep up to date on storm conditions, visit: South Carolina Emergency Management Division}
All Darlington County School District offices will also be closed. Maintenance and custodial staff will report as normal Wednesday, Oct. 5, to prepare schools for the hurricane this weekend. All other employees should not report to work for the remainder of the week.
All extracurricular activities and athletic events are canceled from Wednesday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 9.
No decisions have been made about when students will make up the missed school days or extracurricular activities.
