Darlington Memorial Cemetery Clean-up

Volunteers united to clean up the Darlington Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 19, removing fallen trees and trimming back shrubbery in advance of the winter break. Darlington City Council member Sheila Baccus said this would be the last cleanup day until spring, but noted that long-term plans include clearing a blocked road to provide visitors better access to gravesites, and pressure washing, waxing, and leveling historic grave markers. That morning, Baccus accepted a $500 donation from Darlington native Franklin Wilds (now a resident of Washington) to help the Memorial Cemetery Committee fund future improvements.
