These are some of the upcoming events in Darlington County. Some events were rescheduled from last weekend because of the threat of heavy rains.

Wed., Dec. 6:

9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. — SC Works career Coach along with the Caresouth Carolina mobile unit will be at the Society Hill library, 114 Carrigan St., Society Hill. There will be free health screenings from Caresouth Carolina and SC Works will be there to assist with Job searches and unemployment assistance.

5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. — Darlington County Junior Leadership Academy, Butler Heritage Foundation, 1103 S. Sixth Street, Hartsville. Sponsored and conducted by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, these classes include character building, anti-drug programs, Fire Dept. demonstrations, teaching health and fitness, leadership and how to save a life. 12:30 P.M. — Darlington Rotary Club meeting, South of Pearl Restaurant, 117 Edwards Ave., Darlington.

1:00 P.M. — Darlington Kiwanis Club meeting, Darlington Country Club, 125 Country Club Rd., Darlington.

Sat., Dec. 9:

8:30 A.M. — The Reindeer Run 5K, presented by Palmetto Runners Race Committee is a family-oriented 5K Run/Walk beginning at Central Baptist Church, 512 Spring Street, Darlington, and ending at Williamson Park. 

11:00 A.M. — Darlington Rescue Squad Christmas Parade will take place down Pearl Street. Lineup begins at 10am at Fitness Worldwide Gym, 1032 Pearl St.

3:00 P.M. — The Hartsville Christmas Parade will take place in Downtown Hartsville as part of Hartsville’s Heart of the Holidays.

5:00 P.M. – 7:00 — Electric Train Display, Old NAPA building, Pearl Street, Darlington. Santa will be on hand for the children.

Sun., Dec. 10:

5:00 P.M. — Darlington Kiwanis Carol Lighting, Public Square, Darlington.

Wed., Dec. 13:

4:00 P.M. — Arbor Day Event, Darlington Motel, 600 Pearl Street, Darlington.

Sat., Jan. 6:

10:00 A.M. — Darlington Community Foundation’s Hot Chocolate 5K, begins at Fitness World Gym, 1032 Pearl St., Darlington.
