Here is a list of some upcoming events in Darlington County. Some holiday events may be changed or rescheduled if inclement weather occurs.

Wed., Nov. 29:

5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. — Darlington County Junior Leadership Academy, Butler Heritage Foundation, 1103 S. Sixth Street, Hartsville. Sponsored and conducted by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, these classes include character building, anti-drug programs, Fire Dept. demonstrations, teaching health and fitness, leadership and how to save a life. 12:30 P.M. — Darlington Rotary Club meeting, South of Pearl Restaurant, 117 Edwards Ave., Darlington.

Fri., Dec. 1:

10:00 A.M. — Arbor Day Tree Planting, Lawton Park, 716 Prestwood Drive, Hartsville.

Sat., Dec. 2:

9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. — Free Clothes Closet, New Providence Baptist Church, 1884 Antioch Rd., Hartsville. Free Clothing, shoes and other items to those who have suffered a disaster (fire, flooding, etc.) or those who are simply in desperate need.

1:00 P.M. – Lamar Christmas Festival, Main Street, Lamar. If inclement weather occurs, the Festival will be held at Spaulding Middle School, 400 Cartersville Hwy., Lamar.

5:00 P.M. — Christmas Electric Train Display, Old NAPA building, Pearl Street, Darlington. Santa Claus will be here to listen to the wishes of the children. Come and enjoy the display and talk with Santa.

Wed., Dec. 6:
9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. — SC Works career Coach along with the Caresouth Carolina mobile unit will be at the Society Hill library, 114 Carrigan St., Society Hill. There will be free health screenings from Caresouth Carolina and SC Works will be there to assist with Job searches and unemployment assistance.

3:00 P.M. — The Hartsville Christmas Parade will take place in Downtown Hartsville as part of Hartsville’s Heart of the Holidays.
5:30 P.M. — Lamar Christmas Parade, Main Street, Lamar.
Sun., Dec. 10:
1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. — Darlington County Sheriff’s Office’s (DCSO) 3rd Annual Drive-thru Christmas Toy Drive, Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, 1621 Harry Byrd Hwy., Darlington. 5:00 P.M. — Darlington Kiwanis Club’s 41st Annual Darlington Carol Lighting on the Public Square in Darlington.

12:00 P.M. — Darlington County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Youth Deer Hunt Event, Kelleytown Baptist Church, 2609 Kelleytown Rd., Hartsville. This event allows young hunters to learn about gun safety and responsibility in a healthy and wholesome manner.
