DARLINGTON — William Christopher “Chris” Smith, 74, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at his home. A funeral service was held at Belk Funeral Home Tuesday, Dec. 29, with burial following in Bethany Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Timmonsville. The family received friends at the funeral home. Chris was born in Darlington on July 24, 1946, son of the late William Edward Smith Jr. and the late Caroline Virginia Vause Smith. Mr. Smith served in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He then went to work at Wellman in Johnsonville for over 20 years and then worked Gate # 9 at Sonoco as a dispatcher. He was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Marie Greene Smith, two sons and daughters-in-law, William “Will” and Jennifer Smith Jr., Jarrott and April Smith, all of Darlington, grandsons, Tristan, Darian, Jarrott “J.J.” and Nathan Smith, granddaughter, Raven Brooks and a brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Jeannie Smith of Knoxville, Tenn.
