Internationally renowned artist and Darlington native Jim Simon brought art, storytelling, and community together on Saturday, June 13, when he hosted a book launch and signing for his latest work, ‘Bro Gooses Classic Word Up’, at 1034 Pearl Street in Darlington.

Hosted by Shadaris Bradley, the event drew an enthusiastic crowd eager to celebrate Simon’s newest release, which features his iconic animations and signature visual storytelling style. The afternoon came alive during live readings by Auri Bradley and Jordyn McCallum, accompanied by three Pee Dee ELITE models whose rhythmic movement helped bring the stories off the page and into the room.

Attendees had the opportunity to get their copies personally signed by Simon, whose decades of artistic work have earned him the affectionate title of the “Black Walt Disney” among fans and peers alike.

Beyond the celebration of the new book, Simon also opened registration for his drawing and painting classes, which welcomes students ages 10 and up — with no upper age limit. The classes reflect Simon’s longstanding commitment to nurturing creativity and artistic talent in the Pee Dee region.

Those interested in obtaining a copy of Bro Gooses Classic Word Up, enrolling in Simon’s mentoring or art classes, or learning about upcoming events can reach him directly at (843) 917-1707.
