Cohen surprised by PDRTA award at Nov. council meeting
During the public portion of the Darlington City Council’s November meeting, Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority: Chuck McNeil, Executive Director of PDRTA thanked council and mayor for their support of the bus service: “It is an asset to the community, and it speaks well to market Darlington to the outside world and respective businesses, or people thinking of moving here, that you have a public bus service and it’s growing.
Darlington Veterans Day Service 2015
The sun shone brightly on Tuesday, November 11 as members of the Darlington Veterans Memorial Committee and Darlington American Legion Post 13 and Post 210 joined civic leaders and community members to honor veterans past and present at 11:00 a.m. at the Carolina Bank park area across from Memorial Park on the corner of Main and Orange Streets in Downtown Darlington.
Society Hill Catfish Festival 2015
Though cloudy weather scrapped a planned skydiving exhibition by the All Veteran Group, spirits remained sunny for the 2015 Society Hill Catfish Festival. Guests enjoyed delicious food, including barbecue, wings, and signature catfish dishes, and kids cheered as candy rained from the skies – courtesy of Catfish Festival Parade entries.
Luna’s Closet Ribbon Cutting
Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association (DDRA) held a ribbon cutting ceremony Nov. 4 to welcome Luna’s Closet to the business community. Located at 107 Pearl Street, the bright and welcoming shop features a wide variety of gently used clothing and shoes for children and teens, lots of toys for girls and boys, as well as baby furniture and nursery equipment.
Seniors go out with a bang and Darlington makes history
A decade. Ten years. 3,652 or 3,653 days, depending on how many leap years fall in the decade. That is how long it has been since the Darlington Falcons last finished the regular season with a winning region record.
Ten years might not seem too long to some, but for sports fans 10 years can seem like an eternity that has no end in sight.
