2nd Annual Crossing Guard Appreciation Week

The South Carolina Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School Program and its Resource Center announce the 2nd Annual Crossing Guard Appreciation Week will be held November 16-20, 2015. Schools and communities are encouraged to use this week-long celebration to show appreciation for crossing guards and recognize the important role that crossing guards play in helping keep students safe. Schools and communities from across the state have already nominated their crossing guards for recognition as an Outstanding Crossing Guard. Award recipients will be formally announced next week.

The SC Safe Routes to School Resource Center provides materials, services, and planning and technical assistance to partnered schools throughout South Carolina to encourage more children to walk and bicycle to school. SC SRTS Programs also teaches bicycle and pedestrian safety skills. Services and materials are provided at no cost to K-8th grade schools and their communities.

For more additional information, the public may contact the Resource Center’s School Outreach Coordinators by visiting www.SCsaferoutes.org.
