Panting for Paws 5k

Runners and walkers, both two-legged and four-legged, hit the streets of Darlington on Saturday as the Panting for Paws 5K raised money for the Darlington County Humane Society. All human finishers received medals, and all dog finishers received bones, along with plenty of water and praise. Race organizer Curtis Boyd hosted the start/finish at his Fitness World Gym on Pearl Street, and he encouraged all runners who need a running buddy to visit the shelter (as he did) and adopt a dog. Boyd says he now runs about 7 miles with his canine pal, Elroy, and there are plenty of great rescue dogs who would love to join you for a jog, sprint or a stroll. All proceeds from the race benefit the Darlington County Humane Society New Shelter Fund.
