Suspect in custody in Jamestown Ave. shooting

Darlington County Sheriff’s Deputies are currently investigating an argument between a man and his girlfriend’s son that ended with one being shot. The incident took place around 2 p.m. June 20 at a residence on Jamestown Ave. The suspect left the scene before deputies arrived but was apprehended in the Dovesville area, shortly thereafter. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have charged Frederick Deon Alford, 41, of Darlington, with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Investigators allege Alford attempted to murder the victim by shooting a shotgun at him and striking the victim in both legs. Alford is expected to appear before a Darlington County Magistrate for a bond hearing.
