DHS Early College Graduate Spotlight – Kinsley Chestnut

Kinsley Chestnut is one of five Darlington High School Early College Honors Program students set to graduate with her Associate of Arts degree from Florence-Darlington Technical College.

When DHS unveiled its Associate of Arts Degree program for qualified Early College Honors Program students, Kinsley decided to rise to the challenge and take advantage of this opportunity. While only a high school freshman, Kinsley committed to spend the next three years, including one summer, devoted to a full college course load each semester in addition to her other high school classes. Her hard work has paid off because with the successful completion of her spring courses, Miss Chesnut will walk during Florence-Darlington Technical College’s Spring commencement ceremony in May and then receive both her college degree and high school diploma during Darlington High School’s graduation ceremony on June 2nd.

Kinsley is an energetic student-athlete at DHS who has participated in a variety of activities including DHS Key Club, History Club, National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is an active member of the Darlington Anchor Club where she has served both as Director and Chaplain. Kinsley has also been a member of the DHS tennis team for the last six years. With such a full schedule, Kinsley still manages to have time for her hobbies, such as painting, sketching, reading, swimming, and spending time with her friends and family.

Kinsley has plans to attend USC, Clemson, or Francis Marion University to eventually pursue a medical degree and become an anesthesiologist. When thinking about all she has accomplished thus far, she stated, “I am outgoing and hardworking. I believe in honor and truth.

I believe that if you are willing to work for what you want, anything is possible. I also believe that anything is possible if you put your faith in Jesus Christ. God is the only reason why I am where I am today.” With her hard work, commitment, and strong faith, Kinsley will surely continue her success in the years to come.

Congratulations Kinsley Chestnut!
