Darlington Dixie Force makes Christmas donation

This Christmas promises to be a whole lot merrier for dozens of kids in need thanks to the generosity of the Darlington Dixie Force, a community outreach program for employees of Georgia Pacific / Dixie Darlington.

“In partnership with the Salvation Army and the Department of Social Services, we’ve teamed together to sponsor thirty-five kids for Angel Tree and DSS Adopt a Child for Christmas 2017,” says Ashley Black, safety coordinator with Georgia Pacific / Dixie Darlington and co-coordinator for Dixie Darlington Force.

Donations from employees continue to increase each year, and Black says that participation in the Dixie Darlington Force program is pretty impressive, with about 98 percent of all Dixie Darlington team members choosing to give their time and resources to help local children.

“Each year, we try to do the Angel Tree program on a bigger scale. We started out with nineteen kids, and we’ve just upped the ante every year…we really want to thank our employees for coming out and donating gifts,” says Black, noting that this year’s bags include a special addition, thanks to a new donor partner.

“This year, we partnered with Athletic Action of Hartsville, and they donated all the shoes for our male kids that needed shoes for Christmas,” Black says. “We know we have a lot of bullying in our society, so we wanted to make sure they received some nice shoes and we want to give a huge shout-out to Athletic Action for their help.”
