Carolina Pines announces visitor restrictions during flu season

Due to a very aggressive flu season, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center announces several visitor restrictions to help prevent the spread of the illness in our facility. The flu and other contagious respiratory illnesses can unknowingly be transmitted for several days prior to the first symptoms appearing.

  • The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has reported 1292 influenza-associated hospitalizations and 24 influenza-associated deaths statewide as of January 17.

Please follow the following visitor restrictions:

Limit visitors to two adults per patient at any one time to help control the spread of the illness.

  • Children under the age of 16 are not allowed on hospital visits except under special circumstances; children approved to visit will be asked to wear masks to prevent transmission of respiratory illnesses.
  • Do not visit the hospital if you have flu-like symptoms. Signs of the flu include fever, cough, sneezing, runny nose or sore throat.
  • Do not visit the hospital if you have nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Clean your hands frequently. Look for hand hygiene stations around the hospital and use them often. Please make sure to clean your hands when entering and leaving the hospital either by washing with soap or rubbing your hands together with hand sanitizer.
  • Get the flu vaccine if you haven’t done so already. Getting this simple shot can help increase your chances of staying healthy and avoid getting others sick.

The visitation restrictions will continue until the flu season has ended.

Together, we can prevent the spread of the flu in our community this season. Thank you for your understanding and support.
