Camp opportunities aplenty through 4-H

Summer Camp…swimming, fishing, canoeing, gathering around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and making new friends is what summer camp is all about. 4-H has a number of overnight camps to choose from: Summer Science Retreat, Pinckney Leadership Conference, Wild at Webb, Horsemanship Camp and 4-H Summer Club Camps.

Summer Science Retreat – June 11-14 at Clemson University
Spend four days exploring the STEM departments at Clemson University for high school students. Tour Clemson’s campus, meet professors, and experience what it’s like to be a Clemson student. Labs, engineering design, horticulture, aquaculture, nursing simulation and more. Cost $200.

Wild at Webb Camp – June 12-16 at Webb Wildlife Center in Garnett
4-H and SCDNR will teach campers ages 10-13 about hunter safety, shotgun, rifle and archery skills, wildlife and their habitats. Canoeing, fishing, night hikes, trapping, tackle crafting and bird calling all take place at Webb Wildlife Center in Garnett, SC. Spaces are limited to 20 males and 5 females. Cost $375. Horsemanship Camp – July 5-9 at Clemson University
Youth bring their horse to camp for a week where they will learn new techniques of horsemanship, increase horse knowledge, horsemanship skills and showing techniques; tracks available for beginner to advanced rider. 4-H Summer Club Camps
4-H Club Summer Camp helps young club members develop the skills they need to succeed in all areas of life. From wake up to lights out, campers enjoy new challenges, discovery, friendships and fun, with a focus on developing character through cooperation, teamwork, respect for others and for our natural environment. Summer Club Camp at Camp W.W. Long in Aiken the week of June 11-15 and Camp Bob Cooper in Summerton July 23-27. 4-H members have the opportunity to go to summer camp at a discount. Summer Camp costs $450, but 4-H club members will get the entire week camp experience for $275. Summer Club Camp is for youth ages 7-14. Summer Fun Day Camp with the Darlington County Recreation Department
June 5 – 9; 9a – 4p
Ages: 8 – 13
Cost: $60 per child; $50 for additional children in same immediate family

Fun science experiments, snack making, community field trips.
4-H20 Day Camp
June 12 – 16; 10a – 3p
Ages: 9 – 14
Cost: $30 4-H members; $40 non-members; add $5 for Thursday overnight.

Join 4-H for a fun-filled week of learning about water and wildlife! We’ll kayak, make tie-dye t-shirts, paper, and animal tracks, study water quality, macro-invertebrates, and snakes and more! Location: Lee State Park
