Cambridge Apartments Shooting Update

Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis has announced the arrest of three suspects involved in a shooting that occurred on September 27. The three allegedly assaulted and shot a victim at the Cambridge Apartments located on E. Jackson St. in the Lamar area of Darlington County.

“I am committed to making Cambridge Apartments a safe community,” stated Sheriff Tony Chavis. “During the last several years, there have been a large number of incidents at the Cambridge Apartments and it can no longer be ignored.”

Criminal Investigations Division Investigators have arrested and charged Jermaine McCoy, II, 18, of Lamar, Bryan Jenkins, Jr., 18, of Lamar, and Shykeem Shakur McCoy, 21, of Lamar, with assault and battery by mob, third degree. Shykeem Shakur McCoy faces an additional charge of attempted murder.

Jermaine McCoy, II was arrested October 6 and was released October 13 on a $10,000 bond. Shykeem Shakur McCoy, arrested October 17, is being held on a $50,000 bond and Jenkins, arrested October 18, is awaiting a bond hearing; both remain at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
