Anchor Club holds end of year celebration

Darlington Anchor Club members marked the end of their year with a celebration on Sunday, May 20. The event included recognition of Anchor graduating seniors, installation of 2018 – 2019 club officers, and presentation of special awards.

Betty Leviner, Spiritual Life Director at The King’s Academy, spoke directly to the seniors about “filling their buckets” with the right choices and characteristics for a meaningful, giving life.

Anchor seniors were given their graduation cords and a small gift. Anchor seniors included Kamryn Aldrich, Laci Back, Jasmine Brown, Courtney Gibson, Aryana Inman, Tyvin Jeffery, Hakia McPhail, Brently Tiller, Olivia Vacanti, Ryanne Weatherford, Christina Wenteler, Kaitlyn Westbrook, Amanda White, Carson Yarborough, and Emily Yarborough.

The Anchor Ambassador Award, given for most service hours recorded, went to Kamryn Aldrich. The Anchor of the Year honor, chosen by fellow Anchors, also went to Kamryn Aldrich. The Anchor Spirit Award was presented to Laci Back for her level of dedication to Anchor activities.

Judy Langley, President of the Pilot Club of Darlington, installed the club officers for the coming year: President – Savannah Odom; President Elect – Carrie Price Flowers; Secretary – Lauren McLennan; Treasurer – Jayla Back/Tanner Berry; Directors – Caroline Floyd (senior), Madison Suggs (junior), Emily Wenteler (sophomore).

The Anchor Club is a community service club open to students in grades 9 – 12. DonaJo Brown served as school liaison for the Club this year and Nancy Lee and Mary Scott served as advisors from the Pilot Club.
