Florence-Darlington Technical College to host open house and orientation at The Continuum

Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) will host its first Fall Open House and Orientation at its new Lake City location in The Continuum July 26.

FDTC is scheduled to move into the new 46,000-square-foot facility in downtown Lake City this summer. The collaboration is due to a partnership between the college and The Darla Moore Foundation.

FDTC will offer an array of classes, including HVAC, industrial maintenance, welding and pathways to extended studies on the main campus in Florence.

“FDTC’s partnership with The Continuum allows us to offer high-quality technical education to the people of Lake City and the surrounding communities like never before,” said Interim Director of the FDTC Lake City Campus, Celeste Nunn.

During the Fall Orientation and Open House July 26, attendees will get a first look at the state-of-the-art facility.

Tours will be given, and students can register for classes, reserve textbooks, get their IDs made, and learn about financial aid and student support services.

The event is set to begin at 9 a.m. and last until 12 p.m. Free food and refreshments will be available for attendees.

“Our Open House event will give new students and prospective students the chance to ask questions, learn more about our programs, and make sure they are prepared to start classes in this fabulous new facility,” Nunn said.

This event is not a grand opening for The Continuum. An official grand opening for The Continuum is scheduled Aug. 6.
