Obituaries – November 21, 2018

DARLINGTON – Doris Brown Walters, 94, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2018. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 16 at Central Baptist Church, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Belk Funeral Home.

Born Dec. 19, 1923, Doris was the daughter of the late John Alexander Brown and Irene Patrick Brown. She retired from James Rivers after more than 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and she enjoyed her favorite holiday, Christmas. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Darlington.
Surviving are her children, Bobby (Shirley) Hilton Walters of Easley; Patricia “Pat” Andrews of Florence, Judy (Laurie) Hanna of Timmonsville, and Susan Dove of Easley; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Cora Taylor of Darlington; and a special sister-in-law, Mildred Purvis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton E. Walters; and all of her siblings with the exception of Cora Taylor.
