Williamson Park to hold BBQ/Bog Benefit Oct. 17
Posted on Monday, October 5, 2026
(Dinner, music, and a memorial tree planting will honor the park’s legacy as it approaches its 100th anniversary)
Williamson Park is much more than a patch of green. For families who have spent afternoons on its trails, children who have crossed its bridges and boardwalks, and neighbors who simply need a quiet place to take in the outdoors, it is a piece of the town’s history and a natural treasure in our own backyard. This month, the community is invited to help support and protect it.
The park will hold its annual BBQ & Bog Benefit on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The evening features dinner, drinks, desserts, and live music. It is the park’s main fundraiser each year, and organizers say the community’s support is what keeps Williamson Park going.
What began as a generous gift to the community has grown into a cherished natural resource. In 2028, Williamson Park will celebrate its 100th anniversary, and organizers say the milestone is a reminder of why preserving the park matters.
“A community is only as strong as the things its people come together to support,” organizers said. They stress that while the park is an asset to the town, it is the generosity and commitment of residents that keep it alive, growing, and thriving.
The celebration will also include a memorial tree planting at the park entrance in honor of Mr. Ben Williamson. The tree will serve as a lasting tribute to his contributions and dedication to the park, and as a reminder of the people whose commitment has shaped Williamson Park into what it is today.
Caring for a park of this size is a constant responsibility. Trails and boardwalks, bridges, landscaping, drainage, and general upkeep all demand regular attention, and there is always something to repair, improve, or restore. Funds raised at the benefit go directly toward that ongoing work.

“The park belongs to our community, and its future depends on our community.”
Organizers thank residents for their continued support and invite everyone to come out for the evening: come hungry, bring a friend, and help keep Williamson Park growing for the next 100 years.
