Funeral services for Mrs. Freda Williams Brigman of Darlington will be conducted 12:00 o’clock noon Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Darlington.
Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc.
Mrs. Brigman was born in Darlington, S.C. on February 5, 1967 the daughter of the late Mr. Freddie Lee Williams Sr. and Mrs. Sally D. Williams. She died Sunday, January 25, 2015 in a Columbia hospital.
She graduated from Mayo High School in 1985, and in 1989 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Morris College. Freda later furthered her education at the University of Las Vegas, N.V. until she returned home.
In her earlier years, Freda was employed with Pee Dee Mental Health as a counselor, and with the Darlington County Community Action Agency. She later went into business for herself establishing the Freddie L. Williams Educational Day Care Center Inc.
Survivors are: her only daughter, Miss Creasha Louise Brigman ; her mother, Mrs. Sally D. Williams; one sister, Mrs. Sandra (Freddie) Jackson; two brothers, Freddie L. Williams Jr., and Malcolm X. Williams; seven aunts; three uncles; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family is receiving friends at the residence of her mother, 513 Cooper Drive, Darlington.
Alice Rudick Shaw, age 95, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015. A graveside service will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Florence directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Alice was born December 9, 1919, to the late Henry and Mitzi Rudick in The Bronx, New York. She loved her children, her grandchildren, and her pets.
Preceded in death are her husband Donald B. Shaw, Sr., her son Donald B. Shaw, Jr., and a grandson Adam Sproul.
Survived are her children, Pamela Shaw (John) Sproul of Middlebrook Virginia, Richard R. (Marie) Shaw of Florence, and Sue Shaw (Hugh) Reynolds of Darlington; her grandchildren Jennifer (John) Wilder, Morgan Sproul, George (Kari) Benjamin, Amanda (Steven) Hicks, and Judson (Ashley) Shaw; and six great-grandchildren.

Charles Lee Ivey, age 69, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31 at Mechanicsville Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Frankie Tanner, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
He was the son of the late James Andrew Ivey and Lottie Mae Guin. He was a resident of Trantham House in Hartsville, and an avid Carolina Gamecock fan.
Preceded in death are his brothers, Paul Manly Ivey, and James Earl Ivey.
Surviving are his sisters, Goldie Nobel of Dover, North Carolina, JoAnn (Rufus) Alford of Darlington, and Mary Nietert; and several nieces and nephews.

Daniel ‘Danny’ Paul Salvo, age 44, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 28 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29 in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery.
Danny was born September 17, 1970, and was the son of Phil and Harriet Salvo. He was a graduate of St. John’s High School. He coached Youth Recreational Baseball, and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Danny was an avid Carolina Gamecock football fan and loved Kentucky basketball. Danny worked at Sonoco Products Company in the paper department. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Darlington.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Darlington are his wife, Meagan Salvo; his son, Woods Salvo; his step-daughter, Makayla; his brother, Michael (Jennifer) Salvo; and several nieces and nephews.

Gladys Suggs Melton, age 87, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30th in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home with interment following in High Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service starting at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Melton was born in Darlington County, daughter of the late Caleb E. and Lena Lewis Suggs. She was a homemaker, mother and a lifetime member of High Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children: two daughters, Cathy (Walt) Mosher of Georgia, Trina Y. Powell of Darlington; one son, Chip Brian Melton of Darlington; grandchildren: Amber Powell of Darlington, Virginia (Troy) Giordano of Florence, Lance Corporal David Powell, Jr., Johnny Miller all of Darlington, Will Morse of Florida; one great grandchild, Dominic; and a sister, Ruth Gibson of Florence.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elwyn Gray (E.G.) Melton, Jr.; a son, Elwyn Gray Melton, III; and an infant daughter, Bonnie Delaine Melton.

Wilbert “Wilbur” Crayton Wilkes, age 89, died Saturday, January 24, 2015. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31st in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Darlington Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Wilbert was born in Darlington on October 24, 1925, son of the late Thea and James Wilkes. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and later worked for and retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company. After his retirement, he worked as a Bailiff in the Darlington County Courthouse.
Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca Blackman Touchberry of Manning; two sisters, Deanna Ewing of Gaffney, S.C. and Ann Pepperman of Middletown Springs, Vermont; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Clanton Wilkes; and a sister, Joyce Lee.

Francis C. “Pat” Humphries, age 97, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home. Pat was born October 6, 1917 to the late Thomas and Era Howell Humphries. He enjoyed many years of successful farming in Darlington County. He was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church where he served as head usher for many years. He was the last surviving charter member of the Lamar Civitan Club, which was organized in 1954 and was also a Mason. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing, and was an avid Clemson fan.
Mr. Humphries was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Boykin Humphries, and a son, Ronald B. Humphries. Surviving are his son Francis C. “Butch” (Sherry) Humphries, Jr. of Lamar; his grandchildren, Major Gary (K.C.) Humphries, United States Marine Corps, Rhonda H. (Rojelio) Salas, Thomas Carl Humphries, Charles H. Johnson, and Douglas R. Johnson; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 31 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at his home on 209 N. Darlington Ave. Lamar, S.C. 29069. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1, at Lamar United Methodist Church, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
A special thanks to his great-grandchildren, Chip and Chandler, and grandsons, Chuck and Doug, for their loving care for Mr. Humphries over the past several years during his struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Raleigh McIver Odom, age 80, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31 at Freedom Baptist Church, with graveside service following at Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
McIver was born November 23, 1934, to the late R.G. Odom, and Edith Knotts Odom. He served in the United States Army, and National Guard. He owned and operated Fairway Market Grocery Store for many years, Odom’s Mini Storage, and Mobile Home Park. McIver enjoyed playing golf with his brother-in-law Jimmy Blackman walking eighteen holes during the mornings. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing with Tom Malone, and watching movies. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Darlington.
Surviving are his wife, Jessie B. Odom of Darlington; his children, Wendy Odom, Bryan (Carol) Odom, both of Darlington, and Brad Odom of Surfside Beach; grandchildren Dustin Jordan, Jason Jordan, Tiffany (Joey) Rheuark, and Taylor Odom; five great-grandchildren; his brother Gene (Dorothy) Odom of Darlington; his sister Verna (Tom) Malone of Joelton Tennessee; special friends J.C. Coe and Mac Sanders; and his canine companion Dylan; and his canine granddaughter Molly.
