A municipal judge denied bond Friday for the third suspect arrested in connection with the February 10 murder of 73-year-Mr. Eugene Williams Sr. at a Darlington car wash.
Bryant Nathaniel Lewis Boyd, 18, appeared today before Darlington Municipal Judge Robert Stucks for a bond hearing related to charges of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy. The murder charge will be handled separately in circuit court, as municipal courts lack jurisdiction over murder cases.
During the hearing, Patti Parker, of the Fourth Circuit Court Solicitor’s Office, argued against granting bond, citing the severity of the alleged crimes and flight risk concerns.
Family members of Mr. Williams were present, including his grandson Tyquel Graham, who delivered an emotional address to the court. “Why? Why my granddad?” Graham asked, maintaining his composure while expressing his grief.
Graham went on to explain that his grandfather didn’t deserve this and should be alive and at home with his family.
Boyd is the latest suspect to be charged in what Darlington County Coroner J. Todd Hardee has ruled a homicide. Two other suspects were previously arrested: a 15-year-old boy, currently held in a Columbia youth detention facility where authorities are seeking to charge him as an adult, and Adron Lashawn Agbo, 22. Agbo remains in custody at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center, facing charges of murder, possession of a weapon, criminal conspiracy, and armed robbery. He was also denied bond and remains in custody.
