The Shower Ministry celebrates with ribbon cutting ceremony
Community members and city officials recently joined volunteers of The Shower Ministry to officially mark the opening of the showers at Trinity Methodist United Church located just off the square in the heart of Darlington. The Shower Ministry was established to provide a basic need to those that are homeless or without running water in their homes; however, any and all are welcome.
Trinity Pastor, Chris Lollis, opened the occasion with prayer and remarks.
“There are people in our midst, right here in our community that don’t have a bathroom to go to, but at the same time, we have this building…this place where we have hot water…we have showers…and I am thankful that Trinity United Methodist Church is willing and able to offer our facilities for the Glory of God and to enable those in need to receive the wonderful blessing of a shower.”
Following the official ribbon cutting, guests enjoyed fellowship with one another over light refreshments prepared by volunteers. The showers, located in Trinity’s Youth Building on Orange Street are open on Monday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and Thursday 5:30 -7:30 p.m. with all toiletries provided.
