Templeton receives top ratings from pro-life, second amendment groups
Republican gubernatorial candidate Catherine Templeton has received high ratings from two important advocacy groups. After reviewing her candidate survey, Templeton received a perfect score from South Carolina Citizens for Life. The group, which advocates for the rights of the pre-born, awarded her a 100 percent rating. The letter informing Templeton of the decision also said, “We appreciate your commitment to protecting pre-born children and the medically fragile and dependent members of the human family.”
Templeton also received an AQ rating from the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund. As the group explained in its letter announcing the move, “Our members will interpret your AQ rating as being a solid pro-gun/pro-hunting candidate who is an advocate for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.”
“These top ratings reinforce what South Carolinians already know,” said Templeton’s campaign manager R. J. May III. “Catherine Templeton is deeply committed to protecting both the rights of the unborn and the Second Amendment. She knows those rights stem from God, not the government. Which is why she is so strongly committed to defending them. The right to enjoy the blessing of being born, and owning a gun for protection or pleasure, must be passed on to the next generation of South Carolinians.”
He also noted both topics are much more than campaign issues to the candidate. “Protecting the sanctity of life and gun ownership are deeply personal to Catherine Templeton,” May said. “As she has noted so many times, when told by doctors while pregnant that one of her twins may have to be aborted for medical reasons, Catherine and her husband didn’t do any tests. They accepted both children as God’s gift, and now have a healthy son and daughter. And she not only owns a gun, she carries it on her person. Catherine Templeton is the one candidate who practices what she believes.”
