Sweet revenge for Darlington Boys

By: Don Gearhart

The Camden Bulldogs invaded the Falcon’s Nest with the expectation of sweeping the hosts as they did just over two weeks ago on their home court. The Lady Bulldogs had defeated the Lady Falcons by an 84-37 mark in that earlier contest and the Bulldogs had topped the Falcons by a 53-45 score.

Girls:

With a decided height advantage, the Lady Bulldogs had their way with the much smaller Lady Falcons and raced off to a 30-10 advantage after one period. That lead increased to 48-14 heading into the locker room.

The third period was more of the same with Camden outscoring Darlington by 21-7 margin to take a commanding 69-21 going into the final period.

With Camden emptying their bench, the Lady Falcons reversed the score of Period 3 by responding with 21 points of their own against only 7 points for the Lady Bulldog reserves. Nonetheless, the final lopsided score was 76-42. The lone bright spots for Darlington were Ari Mcphail’s 14 points and another 13 points from Jamera Madison. The Lady Falcons are now 7-12 on the season and 1-6 in the Region.

Boys:

Using a smothering defense, Darlington started the game strong behind BJ Issac’s five points and led at the period break by a 17-10 margin.

That spread increased to fifteen points 31-16 at the half. Michael Green asserted himself inside the paint to collect six points in the period.

The third period was a low scoring one for both teams. Four more points from Green and the same for Steven Williams still managed to outscore the Bulldogs who could only muster four total points in the period. The Falcons carried a 41-20 lead heading into the final period.

Camden did manage to outscore the Falcons going down the stretch but it was too little, too late. Green tallied six more in the period including resounding dunks on consecutive trips down the floor. Green led all scorers with 18 points. Issac collected 9 points and Williams added eight.

The Falcons raised their record to 11-12 on the season and 2-5 in Region play.
