Charges were pending against a student who made a threat against Spaulding Middle School in Lamar, officials said.
The Darlington County School District said that on Sept. 18, a Spaulding student made a threat against the school using his school-issued iPad.
“The threat was picked up by a teacher through the district’s monitoring program,” the district said in a news release. “The teacher reported the threat and school administrators contacted the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.”
The student was apprehended before school Sept. 19.
