A sink hole on Pearl Street in Darlington is nearly repaired after the City of Darlington worked through the night, digging out a 40-ft section of deteriorating pipe eight feet underground. The clay pipe is approximately 70-90 years old. City officials report that the incident did not impact sewer services for any residents.

The section of Pearl Street remains blocked near Subway restaurant, with detours in place for motorists.

The City anticipates the road will re-open by this evening.
