A Lamar man has been charged with murder in a September slaying in Lamar, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
Tyrik R. Herion, 21, of 632 E. Jackson St., Lamar, is accused of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in the death of Shawnquavis Sparks on Sept. 12, 2021, the DCSO said in a news release.
The DCSO said it could not provide any additional information because the investigation is ongoing.
In a separate case, a 17-year-old juvenile has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. This case involves the Nov. 6, 2021, shooting death of James Bishop, 20, at Indian Branch Road and Beatrice Street, the DCSO said.
Five other suspects already have been charged in the case, officials said. The incident was described as a “gunfight” in the roadway. The juvenile’s name is not being released because of his age.
