Sheriff’s Department completes narcotics investigation
Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis has announced the completion of a Drug Enforcement Unit investigation into the trafficking and sale of illegal narcotics at a residence on Amberwood Drive.
According to Sheriff Chavis, investigators served a search warrant on Amberwood Drive in Marlowe Mobile Home Park on Friday, June 8. During a search of the residence, investigators located 11.5 grams of heroin, 2.5 grams of cocaine, 16 schedule II and IV pills, $3881 in currency and weight scales.
“Investigators with our Drug Enforcement Unit obtained evidence showing Amber Ellis was trafficking illegal narcotics from her residence,” Sheriff Chavis said. “I am proud of my Drug Enforcement Unit’s continued effort of getting this poison out of our community.
Investigators arrested Amber Joye Ellis, 31, of Darlington, on June 8. Ellis has been charged with trafficking in heroin, two counts of distribution of heroin, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a schedule II narcotic and possession of a schedule IV narcotic. Ellis appeared before a Darlington County Magistrate on Saturday, June 9. Ellis has been released on a $19,000 bond, as set by the Magistrate.
