Sheriff swears-In new deputies
Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis welcomed four new Deputies. George Kelley, Jimmy Walker, Matt Clark and Dennis Carter were sworn-in by Sheriff Chavis.
Deputy Kelley is a native of Connecticut. He previously served four years in the United States Marine Corps, over a year with the Maine Department of Corrections and a year with the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
Deputy Walker is a native of Darlington having worked in the private sector for several years as a welder. Deputy Clark is a native of Clio having served as a fireman since 1997, and a reserve officer with the Clio Police Department for four years.
Deputy Carter is a native of Lamar and has served 20 years in law enforcement.
