Sheriff addresses Arson claims

After recent reports claiming Arson in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church fire, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following statement:

“Per Sheriff August, at this time, we have not received any information to indicate this incident being classified as arson. This incident is classified as undetermined, and the investigation is still open and ongoing.

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency and is being assisted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and ATF.”
